I have had an interest in holistic and alternative healing methods for many years and while I can't claim to have experienced all of the different methods mention in this article, I do have some personal experience with aromatherapy, healing herbs and what the writer referred to as reiki.
It's nice to know that there's an actual name for it...I've always just thought of it as 'the laying on of hands', probably due to my Catholic upbringing. My mother had the gift. She was a very socially active person, but family and friends would hunt her down, if necessary, to implore her to rid them of such maladies as migraine headaches, muscle pain or menstrual cramps.
I've used aromatherapy to help me relax, and herbal teas for various minor health issues like upset stomach, insomnia and mild fever. My kids actually prefer the taste of peppermint tea to Pepto-Bismol.
My Squirrel Bait (don't you just love that name?) is chock full of articles espousing the benefits of various forms of homeopathic and holistic healing. If you have any interest in alternative healing, I urge you to visit and browse around. If there's a new topic you'd like to see covered, leave a message.
